"It is very interesting that browsing products online does not necessarily mean that products are then actually bought online. The results of the survey show that lots of customers still prefer the shopping experience offered in store."
Dominik Endress, Head of Sales brodos.net
According to a survey conducted by PwC, 73 percent of US customers prefer to buy in store, after having first read up on the product online. The reasons for this included wanting to avoid paying for delivery, or wanting to see, touch or try the merchandise before actually making the purchase.
A lot of retailers with a brick and mortar store have recently complained of the “showrooming” effect, i.e. the situation that stores are often only being used by customers as showrooms for products, with the actual purchase then being made online. The current PwC survey shows, however, that online retailers themselves are also being used as a showroom, with customers using them to gather information and make comparisons before then making the purchase in a brick and mortar store. This underlines our belief that we are on right on track with our Online Kiosk. Here, customers can enjoy the convenience of the internet to select their required product, browsing pictures and videos to gain information, and then make the purchase with their own trusted retailer, enjoying all the benefits offered by the brick and mortar retailer: no delivery charges and the possibility to try out the product before taking it home there and then.
